New York Fashion Week (NYFW) starts on September 6 and will run until September 24 for the 2019 spring/summer season. You should not worry if you do not have the tickets to this hot show, you can celebrate it in several other ways. Here are some of the expectations of the NYFW.
– Proenza Schouler and Rodarte are back
Rodarte was among the first major brands that bid farewell to the NYFW in favour of the Paris Fashion Week. However, recently, they announced that they are on their way back to the NYFW this spring/summer and they will host runway shows and not releasing lookbooks for the new collections. Proenza Schouler, another American brand, will also be joining them. Proenza Schouler moved their runway shows to Paris and ditched the traditional schedule.
– Ralph Lauren in the Manhattan’s Central Park
Ralph Lauren, an American designer, will be celebrating the 50th birthday of the eponymous brand. He will host an anniversary at the Manhattan’s Central Park. They will set the catwalk against Bethesda Terrace Fountain along with alfresco dining for the VIP guests. According to statements from this brand, the designer will be paying homage to New York City, his hometown and the epicentre of global and American fashion.
– Longchamp and Escada
Escada has gone through image revamp recently and has welcomed changes from designer Niall Sloane. In coincidence with the 40th anniversary, Escada has plans of hosting the first runway show at the New York Fashion Week with an aim of reaching more audiences that are international. Longchamp will also make debut at the NYFW and will stage their first official catwalk show. The Parisian brand will host another event too at the Opera Garnier in Paris after commemorating the 70th anniversary.
– Vivienne Westwood’s presentation
In 2081, the queen of punk fashion and an environmental activist Vivienne Westwood decided to cease every catwalk show and go for the digital platforms of photographs and short films. However, for the 2019 New York Fashion Show, the fashion designer will be staging shows for the buyers alone. She will stage another runway show in the Paris Fashion Week.
– Kozaburo: LVMH Prize Winner
Joining the other fashion design talents such as the eveningwear designer Christopher John Rodgers, the CFDA Lexus Initiative winner Studio 189 and the ready to wear label Marina Moscone, LVMH winner Kozaburo Akasaka will be presenting his fashion collections at the 2019 New York Fashion Week.
– Marchesa comes back
After the fashion label Marchesa sat out the 2018 NYFW among the Harvey Weinstein scandal, they have announced their comeback to the fashion week in September. Seemingly, the brand has been working on its comeback for some time. Scarlet Johansson donned a Marchesa gown at Met Gala while Vanessa Hudgens appeared in a gown from this label at one movie premiere in January. Moreover, the brand has decided to maintain their low profile with the available creations showing solely by appointment.
The New York Fashion Week has been a magnet for the Hollywood stars, top models, influencers and top models from different parts of the world. We are likely to see some of the most sought-after models like Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner.
